Iowa Sales and Use Tax Setup for PLLC, Professional Corporation, LLP, LLC, Corporation

Businesses that sell goods or services are responsible for collecting, reporting, and remitting sales and use tax. A foreign business has nexus in Iowa if it has a physical presence in Iowa. Iowa, like most states, provides a list of activities that requires an out-of-state retailer to register and collect taxes. Out-of-state retailers must collect taxes if they have either $100,000 or more in gross revenue from Iowa sales, or 200 or more separate transactions for an immediately preceding calendar year or current calendar year. You can refer to Iowa's "List of Specified Digital Products" to see whether your computer software is subject to sales tax.

    Register for your new business tax permit by submitting an Iowa Business Tax Permit Registration 78-005 either online by logging into your GovConnectIowa account or by mail.
