Louisiana Unemployment Insurance Setup for LLP, Corporation, LLC

Every employer in Louisiana is required to complete and submit an employer application in order to receive an official determination of liability or non-liability under the Louisiana Employment Security Law. If you pay wages of $1,500 or more during any quarter in a calendar year or have at least one individual employed during some portion of a day during 20 or more separate calendar weeks in a calendar year, you must pay unemployment insurance taxes. Note: 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations must register for unemployment insurance when they have four or more employees for any part of a day in 20 different weeks of a calendar year. During the registration process, 501(c)(3) organizations will have the choice to either pay unemployment contributions on taxable wages each quarter or elect to reimburse the Louisiana Unemployment Fund for benefits paid to terminated employees.
