Announcing Mosey Services – PEO migration, account recovery, reinstatement, and more

We’re excited to announce Mosey Services–work with our team of experts to transition off a PEO, recover or close state accounts, reinstate your business, or update critical account information quickly and accurately.

Some things can’t be fixed with software. Businesses fall out of compliance before coming to Mosey and struggle to get back into compliance. Responsibilities are split across teams and access to state and local tax account information isn’t unified for the organization, making it difficult to resolve compliance issues.

While we continue to constantly improve the product sometimes the best way to help is with dedicated consultation with a team of experts to identify, assess, and implement the necessary steps to resolve a specific compliance issue.

What Services does Mosey offer?

Customers with an annual agreement can now get the following services by contacting their account manager or reaching out to support.

  • PEO Migration: Open the right set of tax accounts at the right time in your PEO transition to avoid interruptions in payroll.
  • Account Recovery: Regain access to previous state tax accounts connected to your business’s FEIN.
  • Account Closure: Formally close tax accounts in state and local jurisdictions where your business no longer has a presence.
  • Business Address Change: Update the addresses associated with your state and local agency accounts.
  • Business Name Change: Change your legal business name registered with each state and local agency.
  • Secretary of State Reinstatement: Get back into good standing with the Secretary of State and address late filings and fees.

Let’s dive deeper into each area.

PEO Migrations

When a business decides to transition off of a PEO, the biggest headache comes from opening new payroll accounts in each location.

You want to ensure there is no gap in coverage so your employees can continue to get paid on time and you don’t incur penalties or late fees from the state or local government.

Having worked with large companies on their migrations off of a PEO in all 50 states, Mosey Services is best equipped to help you complete it correctly and on time.

Account Recovery

State and local tax accounts can become inactive for a number of reasons–delinquent filings, removing nexus in that area, or loss of access from changing team members.

Every government agency has different procedures for inquiring about previous accounts and reactivating them. Some states require specific forms to be submitted, others need a phone call or email from the designated officer, while others you can complete entirely online. In some cases, you need to completely re-apply for a new account.

Building on our experience working with every state and local agency, Mosey Services can take this time consuming process off your hands and get it done faster.

Account Closure

When you no longer have employees or business operations in a state, you may want to close those tax accounts.

Similar to account recovery, closing state and local tax accounts can be cumbersome as it differs for each agency in each state. Typically, there is a review period and a final return that needs to be filed in a specific format through the proper channels to be processed correctly by the agency.

Learning how to close an account and then carry out the process can be time consuming. With Mosey Services, our team of experts understands the process for each agency to swiftly complete account closures.

Business Address Changes

When your legal business address or mailing address has changed, you will need to find and update it across all of your accounts.

To do so, you will need to log into each agency account site and test if they support online business information changes. If they do not, you will need to contact the state for the right set of instructions and forms to complete the update. Some states still require forms to be submitted via mail, adding even more to your plate.

Our team has compiled this knowledge to execute address changes on your behalf in a fraction of the time.

Business Name Changes

If your legal business name has changed from what was originally registered in the state, you will need to update it. Because this information is connected to your business’s FEIN, it is imperative to report accurate and timely data to the state.

To no one’s surprise, this involves checking each state and state agency individually to submit change requests. This is required to maintain good standing with the Secretary of State and ensure your tax accounts remain active without interruption.

Lean on the experience of Mosey Services with our library of documents and forms to file the proper paperwork and confirm completion of these name change requests.

Secretary of State Reinstatement

A company can fall out of good standing due to delinquent or missing filings, failure to pay filing or franchise tax fees, or not having a registered agent in the state. If you are not in good standing, you cannot transact business in the state. This includes things like the inability to bring lawsuits to court, additional penalties and fines, and the loss of name rights in the state.

To get back into good standing with the Secretary of State, you will need to submit the missing annual reports, reinstatements, or sometimes foreign qualify all over again. You will also be responsible for paying overdue fees which accrue the longer you are not in good standing with the state.

With Mosey Services, we can identify the missing information, complete the proper forms, and file them with the state on your behalf faster across all locations.
